Since Labor Day is just around the corner, why not wow your friends and family with this interesting version of the easy appetizer known as “wings”. You’ll be glad you did!
What you’ll need:
– 1 ounce butter
– 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
– 3/4 teaspoon chile powder
– 2 drops hot sauce
– 1 cup barbecue sauce
– 2 Tablespoon honey
– 2 cloves garlic, minced
– 1 teaspoon cumin
– 1/2 cup coffee liqueur
– 2 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
– 1 teaspoon salt
– 20 chicken wings, cut in half
– salt and pepper, to taste
In a 2-quart saucepan melt the butter and saute garlic and onion over medium heat for about 3 minutes. Add the cumin and chili powder and cook, stirring the whole time for 2 minutes.
Next, blend in the coffee liqueur and cook to reduce the liquid by one-half. Then, you’ll stir in the hot sauce, Worcestershire, barbeque sauce and the salt. Simmer for 5 minutes – afterwards, remove from the heat and add the honey. Set aside and allow the wings to cool.
You’ll need to prepare the chicken wings by removing and discarding the tips. Then, cut or divide the wings in half at the remaining joint.
